Preventative Health

Free Health Check Stall set up with Community Paramedic

HMS Community offer health checks that test blood pressure, blood sugar, and ear wax build-up. These health checks are performed by medical professionals in the community at events.

Preventative health and early intervention are important for preventing diseases from progressing and causing serious health problems such as hearing loss and heart disease. By identifying people with high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and ear wax build-up early on, HMS Community can help to prevent these conditions from causing serious health problems in the future.

HMS Community can attend your workplace or event to perform Health Checks for you and your staff, attendees, volunteers or community. The checks involve a blood pressure check, basic observations and a chat with one of our health professionals.

If you are interested in arranging for HMS Community to come to you, please get in touch via email or phone call!

We are currently working on funding opportunities to allow us to complete these checks free for our community. If you are interested in supporting us, please click below.

FAQs

HMS Community is Australia's first Community Paramedic healthcare charity, saving lives and money by preventing unnecessary hospital stays based in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs and Macedon Ranges.

Each week, HMS Community saves ambulance services approximately 90 hours' worth of callouts, which is equal to around $1.4 million a year. This is because HMS Community provides accessible, thorough healthcare and support to people within the comfort of their homes and communities, or in our accessible clinic.

HMS Community is committed to providing community-based care that is responsive, innovative, and person-centered.

At HMS Community, we're redefining healthcare accessibility. Here's what sets us apart:

1. Professional Medical Team:

Our services are backed by a dedicated medical team of Community Paramedics, Community Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners.

2. Relief for Primary Care:
We ease the burden on GPs, Ambulances, and Hospitals by providing assistance within the community.

3. Community-Focused:
We fill the healthcare gap in communities, ensuring everyone has access to quality care.

4. Holistic Approach:
We prioritise holistic well-being, addressing physical, mental, and emotional health.

5. Personalised Care:
Tailored to individual needs, we work with everyone to ensure their healthcare journey matches their needs.
