Specialist Clinic (Plant Medicine)

We are currently taking bookings for our SPECIALIST CLINIC which runs out of our home in Gisborne.

Plant medicine is a term used to describe medicinal cannabis, a naturally occurring plant. Medicinal cannabis is a safe and regulated drug however it is still considered to be experimental under the TGA.

Medicinal cannabis interacts with the endocannabinoid system, a system which is vital for internal regulation, cellular communication and homeostasis. Two main cannabinoid components found in cannabis are THC and CBD, prescriptions can be made up of either of these or a balance of both.

You may be, if you have a condition or symptoms which have lasted for 3 months plus and have trialed other treatments with no success or experienced side effects. Call us or refer to the TGA link if you have further questions around eligibility.

Our Specialist Clinic is open on Wednesdays (9am - 5pm).

We will offer extended appointments and adopt a team-based approach as our standard healthcare practice.

We will utilise the expertise of our team of General Practitioners, Specialist Community Paramedics, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Cannabinoid Practitioners to provide our patients with the highest quality, individualised care.

During our appointments, patients will consult with both a Community Paramedic or Nurse, and then with a General or Nurse Practitioner. This aligns with our team based, multidisciplinary approach to healthcare, offering our patients the time and space they need to discuss their needs.

All appointments will be up to 40 minutes as a standard. HMS Community Clinic will offer competitive appointment costs and bulk billed appointments for patients with Commonwealth Pension or Concession cards and children under 16 years of age.
